"Every day feels like a fire drill."

If everything is a priority, nothing is a priority.

"Every day feels like a fire drill."

If I asked most leaders, "Are you addicted to stress?" most would say no.

But when I look at their lives and work cultures, it often seems like they are.

Everything becomes urgent.

Whether it’s truly important or not doesn’t matter.

Everything demands attention now

And in that chaos, priorities get lost.

There are costs.

Your team lacks direction.

Deadlines get pushed back.

The truth is: If everything is a priority, nothing is a priority.

Your team takes its cues from you.

How you handle stress and prioritize directly impacts how they react to challenges.

If you're always in firefighting mode, they will be too.

But is this the best way to lead?

There is another way, one that brings clarity, focus, and calm:

  • Define what truly needs attention, and what can wait

Not every issue requires an immediate response.

Take a moment to evaluate: Is this urgent or just inconvenient?

What happens if it waits a few hours, a day, or even longer?

  • Align with your true priorities

When everything is urgent, you lose sight of what really matters.

These are opportunities to create clarity and practice discipline.

Take a step back and assess where this new issue fits in your broader goals.

Does it serve your mission? If not, it can wait.

It all comes down to alignment.

When you lead with intention and clarity, your team will learn to do the same.

They will know that not every problem is a crisis and that calm, focused leadership is always the better path.

The way you model handling stress and prioritization directly influences your culture.

Lead with purpose, and your team will follow suit.

What will you choose to prioritize today?
